A summary of biking the Bodensee Radweg, a 265 km long bike route that completely circles the Bodensee (Lake Constance). This is an international route that goes through Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

Stage 8 of the Bodensee Radweg is 22 km long with 90 m ascent/descent. Starting at Radolfzell and ending in Konztanz, the last stage of the Bodensee Radweg is entirely in Germany.

Stage 7 of the Bodensee Radweg is 24 km long with 170 m ascent/descent. This stage starts in Switzerland at Stein Am Rhein and ends in Germany at Radolfzell.

The Heidbüel-Tgantieni-Höhenweg trail is a 6 km trail with 300 m ascent and 460 decent that goes from the top of the Heidbüel gondola in Churwalden to the top of the Tgantieni chairlift in Lenzerheide.

Stage 6 of the Bodensee Radweg is 28 km long with 190 m ascent/descent. This stage is entirely in Switzerland and starts at Kreuzlingen and ends at Stein Am Rhein.

This hike is 7 km long with 541 m of ascent and 237 m descent and starts in Melchsee-Frutt and ends at Planplatten (Alpen Tower.)

The Zürich City Triathlon is held in downtown Zürich every June. This year (2026), I participated in and completed the Sprint distance category – 750 m swim, 20 k bike, and 5 k run. The swim takes place in lake Zürich and the bike and run are along the shore, so a very flat course.

This 6 km hike from the top of the Stanserhorn to the small town of Wirzweli has 102 m ascent and 749 m descent. The views on the trail are fantastic, however, the first half of this trail is very steep.

The Waldrandweg is a 12 km hike with 200 m ascent and 420 descent that goes from Oberdorf SO to Grenchen. Along the way, this trail passes an old quarry where a large number of dinosaur tracks can be seen.

Stage 20 of the Alpine Panorama Trail (Route 3) is a 12 km hike with 720 m ascent and 750 m descent that goes from Schwarzsee to Jaun. I loved this stage! The views were truly incredible!

Stage 19 of the Alpine Panorama Trail (Route 3) is a 16 km hike with 660 m ascent and 740 m descent that goes from Guggisberg to Schwarzsee.

On a trip to Portugal, we walked along the Douro River and the Atlantic coast from the Ponti Luis Bridge in Porto to Salgueiros Beach, Vila Nova de Gaia for a total of 8 kilometers one way.
