The Aletschgletscher Aussichtsweg loop trail is a 7 km hike with 500 m descent/ascent that starts at the Aletsch glacier viewpoint at the top of the Riederalp, Moosfluh cable car. This spectacular hike has amazing views of the Altesch Glacier almost the entire way.

The Heidbüel-Tgantieni-Höhenweg trail is a 6 km trail with 300 m ascent and 460 decent that goes from the top of the Heidbüel gondola in Churwalden to the top of the Tgantieni chairlift in Lenzerheide.

In September, I took friends on the Chüebodensee loop hike with a detour up to the Wildmadfurggeli at Elm (10 km hike with 857 m of ascent and decent).

The Height Route at Flumserberg is a short (8 km) hike that winds its way down (461 descent) from the top of the Maschgenkamm gondola station to the top of the Chrüz chair lift. At Chrüz, we rode the super-fun Floomzer mountain coaster back to Tannenboden.

The Chrüzegg Panorama trail at Atzmännig is Bergstation -> Chrüzegg -> Talstation. This 7 km trail has 190 m of ascent and, 520 m descent. It starts at the top of the chair lift and then winds its way back to the parking lot by walking along the top of the arena.

The very popular Pizol 5-Seen-Wanderung (or 5-lakes Hike) is an absurdly beautiful trail with gorgeous lakes and amazing expansive panoramas. According to one source, this hike it is 11k with 553 ascent and 911 m descent.

The Chüebodensee loop hike at Elm is a 8 km hike with approximately 640 m of ascent and decent. This moderately challenging trail leads up to the Chüebodensee, a small alpine lake.

My husband took the day off from work so we decided to head to Elm, a small resort in canton Glarus, to do some hiking and, of course to ride down the mountain on a mountain cart.
