Just for fun, I ran the 10k distance in the Greifenseelauf. This is a pretty big race event held every September in Uster with several race distances throughout the day – half-marathon, 10 k, 5.5 k, and kids 1.5 k and 1.2 k distances.

Every summer, there are multiple Seeüberquerung (lake crossing) events where you can swim across Lake Zürich with a crowd of people and safety boats alongside. This year, we did the Thalwil to Küsnacht Seeüberquerung, a yearly event run by SLRG SSS – Ihr Rettungschwimmer (Swiss Lifeguard Association).

Every year in April, Ochsner Sport hosts the Zürich Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10 k races in downtown Zürich. Two years ago, my husband and I ran the 10 k and this year we ran the half-marathon.

Every three years, Bad RagARTz hosts the Swiss Triennial of Sculpture, a large open-air sculpture festival, in Bad Ragaz, Vaduz, Liechtenstein and Altes Bad Pfäfers. In 2024, we took the opportunity to stroll around the town of Bad Ragaz to check out the festival’s many impressive, weird, and wonderful sculptures.
