The Rosinli Rundweg (Length 10 km, Ascent 320 m, Descent 320 m) is an easy loop hike in Canton Zürich starting in the village of Kempten.

This very popular, pretty trail circumnavigates the Türlersee, a small lake in the district of Affoltern, in Canton Zürich. At only 4.5 kilometers and almost no elevation change, this trail was the perfect easy walk for a less than perfect day.

The Sihlsee-Winterwanderweg – route 555 is marked by pink signs. This groomed snow path is a 9km loop that starts and ends at the historic Einsiedeln Abbey.

The Sihlwald Circular Trail (length 13 km, ascent 570 m, descent 570 m) is a fun loop trail that starts at the Sihlwald Bahnhoff, goes through the forest up to the fabulous views at the Albishorn, and ends with a lovely easy walk along the riverside as it returns to the Sihlwald Bahnhoff.

The Buchenegg Trail (length 8.5 km, ascent 304 m, descent 304 m) has views of Lake Zürich, and the Türlersee, along with rolling hills, forests, and green pastures.

We spent one night in the hotel at the top of Mount Pilatus, a towering peak in eastern Switzerland over-looking Lake Lucerne. While there we hiked the Tomlishorn Wildflower Trail and went up to Esel Viewpoint.

My husband took the day off from work so we decided to head to Elm, a small resort in canton Glarus, to do some hiking and, of course to ride down the mountain on a mountain cart.

A hike (11 k) with everything I think a Swiss mountain hike should have – dramatic mountain peaks, alpine lakes, rolling meadows with grazing sheep and cows, and the sound of clinking cow bells.
