Stage 8 of the Alpine Panorama Trail (Route 3) is a 19 km long trail with 720 m ascent and 860 m descent that goes from Einsiedeln to Unterägeri.

Stage 7 of the Alpine Panorama Trail (Route 3) is a 23 km long trail with 1100 m ascent and 680 m descent that goes from Siebnen to Einsiedlen.

The Mythenweg trail is a short (6 km) but demanding (660 m of ascent and descent) trail that takes you from the top of the Rotenflue gondola to the top of the Grosser Mythen Peak and then back again.

The Mark Twain trail is an 11 km long theme trail with an ascent of 1361 m that takes you Weggis to the peak of Mount Rigi (Rigi Kulm). This path follows the trail taken by Mark Twain, humorously recounted in his book “A Tramp Abroad.”

For a winter hike with great views, the Engelstock Loop Trail is an excellent choice. At 5k with 148 m of ascent and descent and with several restaurants along the way to choose from, we found this loop made for a very relaxing day out. And, it is also a fantastic hike in the summer!

After hiking the winter trail from Rigi Kulm to Rigi Scheidegg (11 km, 280 ascent, 390 descent) this past weekend, I’m putting it on my definite-recommend list.

The Goldauer – Bergsturzspur Loop (route 828) is an 8km long hike with 540 m elevation change. This hike takes you through the Goldau landslide area.

This easy trail (just under 5 k) took us from Immensee to Küssnacht am Rigi. Along the way, we walked the narrow passage where legend says Wilhelm Tell shot the Austrian bailiff Gessler (The Hohle Gasse) and we explored the castle ruins at Gesslerberg.
