Visiting the Foundation Beyeler Art Museum in Riehen/Basel
The Foundation Beyeler is a modern and contemporary art museum located in Riehen near Basel. We visited this museum for the Yayoi Kusuma retrospective held 2025 October 12 – 2026 January 25. This well curated exhibition made me want to keep an eye on this museum for the future. It truly was worth a visit.

Hiking Mettmen to Matt via the Berglimattsee
The trail from Mettmen to Matt is 11 km long with 599 m ascent and 1379 m decent. With stunning mountain panoramas and a lovely alpine lake (Berglimattsee), this is a beautiful hike. However, the long steep descent, often on loose gravel was very tough on the knees and not my favorite to hike.

Every summer, there are multiple Seeüberquerung (lake crossing) events where you can swim across Lake Zürich with a crowd of people and safety boats alongside. This year, we did the Thalwil to Küsnacht Seeüberquerung, a yearly event run by SLRG SSS – Ihr Rettungschwimmer (Swiss Lifeguard Association).

The Titlis peak has spectacular glacier and mountain views. The glacier cave and cliff walk experiences are fun as is the chance to throw a snowball in August. A short hike half-way down the mountain completes the day.
